About
Erika's Story...
Erika Nelson is an author, trauma therapist and survivor of many things. Raised on the shores of Lake Michigan in Wisconsin, Erika’s childhood was riddled with abuse, neglect, and toxicity. Those early experiences would shape her life purpose of sharing what she learned to help others recognize and heal from the things we don’t talk about.
Erika’s professional life has been that of a modern-day Renaissance woman. After earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Human Development at the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay, Erika opened her own alternative healing practice. A decade later, she began working as a real estate agent, eventually becoming broker/owner of the company. After nearly a decade in real estate, Erika was again drawn to helping others – this time in elementary education, where she worked as a Licensed Special Education Aide. It was this role that inspired her to realize her dream of becoming a mental health counselor. In 2018, she earned a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling.
Loving her role as a counselor, another new adventure soon knocked at the door of her heart that would compliment her professional role, allow her to reach more people, and express her long pent-up creativity. She became an author.
A number of years ago, Erika – a highly sensitive empath – found herself in the throes of a mind-bending, abusive relationship. Recognizing the signs and reclaiming her power, Erika set herself free from that relationship and used her knowledge, wisdom, and experience to write Brave Love 365: Daily Inspiration, Validation, and Support for Survivors of Narcissistic Abuse and Toxic Relationships, as well as its companion, Brave Love Journal: A Journey of Self-Exploration and Healing for Survivors of Narcissistic Abuse and Toxic Relationships.
Through her personal and professional experience, Erika has found that our greatest pain is our most powerful medicine. She believes that each of us realizing our absolute, inherent worthiness of love would change the world, and she is committed to sharing that message through her words.
