Now accepting new patients in Wisconsin

I’m Erika, MAC, LPC

I’m a professional counselor helping people heal from trauma, navigate loss, and handle life transitions and complex situations. I listen compassionately and guide you to find your answers.

People I work with often feel:

  • anxious or constantly on guard
  • frustrated with their relationships
  • misunderstood, like no one “gets” them
  • alone, like they don’t quite fit in anywhere
  • exhausted, wishing life didn’t have to be this hard

I want you to know that life really can be different. Healing begins with feeling safe.

Counseling Tools

A woman listening compassionately to another person.

Unconditional Presence

One of the most important tools I use when working with a client is Unconditional Presence. It's often hard to find someone to truly just listen and be present with us, as we figure things out. In using Unconditional Presence, I am attuned to my client's words, body language, energy and emotions. I listen without judgment or a need to fix the person sitting in front of me. I use my professional knowledge and tools, as well as wisdom gained from my own personal healing journey, to help my clients access the truth about themselves and connect with their own inner wisdom for their answers.

Inner Child & Parts Work

When we experience something overwhelming or traumatic and we don't have help processing it, parts of us can get "stuck" at different ages and stages, holding those painful memories and feelings. Working with those inner versions of our selves can be incredibly freeing and healing. We discover the inner part, listen to them, reassure them and guide/reparent them so they can put down the burden they've carried and integrate into our system of self. We can also access parts of us that have carried us through our lives, like our wise adult self or manager parts who have helped us function.

Brainspotting

During talk therapy, we engage the cerebral cortex - the outside layer of our brain. This is often helpful, necessary, and exactly what a client's nervous system can handle. But when clients are ready to go deeper, Brainspotting is a powerful tool. When we experience trauma that we weren't able to process as it occurred, it can be stored in the deepest part of our brain. As if it's been encapsulated there. We find the eye position in your field of vision that corresponds with that "trauma capsule." Then, using bi-lateral music and my attuned presence with their nervous system, clients are able to make a connection back to that trauma, to process and release the contents of that "capsule."
